I’ve had the privilege of publishing a course thats very close to my heart on all things DR, using the current slew of Azure ARM based features on Pluralsight.
The course is titled “Azure Site Recovery: IaaS Migration and Disaster Recovery"

The course covers the basics of requirement gathering - as a consultant thats essential viewing, and moves on to build a scenario to empower the IT manager which all of us know - who has to solve the scenario of doing more with less. However, one of the tools on our belt is Azure capability.

I walk through the course showing how to stretch and extend services into a virtual datacenter and build on those services to provide DR services, demonstrating ASR, OMS and Azure Backup.

Most of the work items are demonstrated in PowerShell first, which allows the course to live longer than the portal features which may or may not change at a moments notice. That’s said tongue in cheek a little bit, however I did have to figure out how to build the material and record the course while the platform was changing, which was challenging to say the least. Some of the portal is in pre-view/beta in some scenes and in production in others, which shows the challenge of deploying a service in flux. PowerShell of course is the most powerful of all options, excuse the pun.

The end result should allow consumers of this course to design, build and run a data centre exertion into Azure, fully aware of the options available to them.
